Business Aviation Market Update
The top of the market absorbed inventory. The bottom added days.
The US business jet fleet stands at 15,710 aircraft in operation across 253 tracked models, with 1,167 of them advertised for sale. That is 29 more listings than a month ago on a fleet that grew by 13, so the share of the fleet on the market rose from 7.2 percent to 7.4 percent.
On its own that reads as a softening market. It is not what happened underneath.
The top of the market absorbed inventory. The bottom added days.
Inventory rose fastest at the top and cleared fastest there too. Large Cabin added 10 listings, taking the segment from 8.3 percent to 8.8 percent of its fleet, and the average time to sell one fell from 254 days to 237.
Ultra Long Range remains the tightest segment in the market at 3.6 percent, with 70 of 1,968 aircraft listed, and it sold 24 days quicker than in August at 136 days. Midsize took on the most inventory of any segment, 18 additional aircraft, and still shortened its average sale by 17 days.
The bottom of the market moved the other way. Very Light Jet listings were flat at 155 but took 11 days longer to sell, and Light Jet added a single listing while adding 9 days. Averaged across the whole market the result is 252 days, three days quicker than August, but that average conceals a market splitting in two.
For a seller of a large cabin aircraft, more competition has not cost time. For a seller at the light end, it has.

Asking range is the span of model-level average asking prices within each segment, not the range of individual aircraft. It is an asking figure in every case, never a transaction price.
Every price here is an asking price
What the numbers are, and what they are not
Asking price and transaction price are different numbers. Read every figure in this report as an asking figure, including the segment ranges above. Transaction prices in business aviation stay private, and we will not dress an asking price up as one.
Fleet counts, listings, days on market and asking prices come from the JETNET STAR report Aircraft Market Statistics By Model (Aircraft Based, Global / United States / International), All Jets, dated 31 August 2026. Headline figures cover United States based aircraft in operation.
All 253 tracked jet models appear in the full report's appendix; the models with no US-based aircraft carry a world fleet count only. Model rows sum to the source report totals of 15,710 US in operation and 1,167 US for sale. Asking prices are model-level averages of advertised prices, rounded to the nearest $1,000. Segment definitions are Integris classifications. Month-on-month comparisons are to the August 2026 edition, which was built on the same United States, in-operation basis.
